Cupcakes, Profiteroles & Macarons

{ Red Velvet & Birthday Cake Cupcakes from Baked & Wired }

A few of my favorite Baked & Wired cupcakes from my lovely childhood twinsy.

{ Creme Brulee Trio at Black Salt }

This was truly one of the best birthday dinners I’ve had in years, because it’s true when they say it’s not where you are, but who you’re with. This year, a few of my favorite people in the world surprised me with a lovely dinner at a restaurant I’ve been wanting to try for years. Dinner was filled with laughs, hilarious stories, and not only was the food wonderful – but service was spectacular. They even wished me a Happy Birthday on the menu!

{ Assorted French Macarons from Sweet Lobby }

If you follow me on twitter, you’d know that I’ve been in a macaron-frenzy these past few weeks. Naturally – looking for any excuse to pick up a box – I decided to treat myself to some birthday macarons. After sifting through reviews one morning for the best ones in DC – I fell upon The Sweet Lobby. They were sweet, buttery, and everything I’d expected. I can’t wait to be back for more.

{ A Beautiful Bird at The Baltimore Aquarium }

Exploring Baltimore this past weekend, my boyfriend and I took refuge from the windy Inner Harbor at its’ aquarium. As many times as I’ve been, I’ve never seen this beautiful pink bird there before. I like to think he/she came out to wish me a happy belated. 🙂

{ Anthropologie Tea Cup filled with leftover Valentine’s Day candy }

The week after Valentine’s Day is not only my birthday week, but also a week of enjoying all the leftover chocolates that lay around the house. Considering I spend much of my time at a desk – this little cup of sweet treats didn’t last more than two hours.

{ Profiteroles from Bourbon Steak }

I love experiencing things that exceed your expectations; and the dessert I had at Bourbon Steak a few weeks ago was one pleasant surprise. These crunchy, nutella profiteroles were decorated with subtle pebbles of diamond-like salt, stuffed with salty-caramel ice cream.

Thank you to everyone for all the sweet birthday wishes. They mean the world to me, and I’m so thankful for the people I’ve met along my journey.
