Home Cooking: Clams & Chardonnay

After going out on the town just about every single night of the week, it’s always nice and refreshing to sit back and be able to relax in the comfort of your living room and tv with a homecooked meal – especially if it involves a smooth glass of chilled white wine.

Steaming clams in garlic butter & white wine sauce isn’t as complicated as it may sound, and is actually pretty fun when you are cooking with another person. Not only does it make cooking time go by much quicker when you’re cooking with a friend, but when you can sip on a glass of the same white wine that you’re cooking with as you’re mincing garlic and cleaning clams – it definitely takes off the nervous edge that comes with trying to cook the perfect meal for a guest.

Dipping slices of fresh french bread in warm sauce instanly brings me back to childhood, which is why having french bread with steamed clams is a neccessity in my book. To be honest, I may have eaten more slices of dipped french bread than clams, because the leftover sauce from the steamed clams include bits of chopped garlic, thyme, and the aroma of fresh clams in a butter, garlic infused olive oil and white wine sauce that could keep me at the table dipping for hours as long as the bread supply lasts.

With a fun recipe to cook with your guest, and a romantic dinner menu to be served in the comfort of your living room as you sit back and watch a feel good flick with a bottle of white wine- the only thing missing from this picture perfect date is, of course, dessert. ;)
